Abstract
Dynamic Geometry Computer Software allows the user, teacher or
student, to realize simple or complex geometric constructions. In this
way one can directly interact on the screen with geometrical objects.
The straightforward way of having students working with such environments
is to let them become familiar with geometrical facts, usually called
theorems. For more than a decade this approach, based e.g. on
Cabri-geometre, has been developed in many countries.
In this presentation I will focus on some basic mathematical
situations, that can be tackled by students. I will also show how
teachers in Physics are using Cabri as a modelling tool for
illustrating phenomena's in Optics, Mechanics or Astronomy, where
mathematical modeling is crucial.
The presentation will end with some more advanced examples in mathematics.
